A 24-YEAR-OLD man and a 17-year-old boy were assaulted on a train travelling between Barnsley and Huddersfield on Saturday.

Officers from British Transport Police and South Yorkshire Police met the train at Penistone station and found the men had been assaulted.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We were called at 5.22pm on Saturday, August 1, following reports that two men had been assaulted on a train travelling between Barnsley and Huddersfield.



“A 19-year-old man, and two boys age 17 and 16, all from Huddersfield, were arrested on suspicion of assault.



“They have been bailed, pending further enquiries, until Monday, August 24.”
