A FREE legal advice clinic aimed at helping people ensure their wills are prepared correctly is proving popular with Barnsley residents.

Raleys Solicitors on Regent Street launched the initiative 'Wills Wednesday' after a spate of wills that had been either written incorrectly, did not reflect their wishes, or in some cases were left unsigned.

Charlotte Hudson, who works at the firm, said: "One person who called in believed they had made the necessary provision for their later life, but when we checked the paperwork it had not been done properly and so would not have been able to take effect.

"It’s shocking that so many people have paid out good money and are seemingly being given incorrect advice or - even worse - potentially useless legal documents.”

Charlotte’s comments come shortly after a report by the Legal Ombudsman again criticised the lack of accountability for companies providing unregulated services such as will writing.
