BARNSLEY Hospital Dementia Team has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
They have reached the final stages of the Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friendly Awards in the Partnership Working Category.
The team includes a Dementia Nurse Specialist and Dementia Support workers from the Alzheimer’s Society who work together at the hospital to provide support and give information to patients and families.
Dementia Nurse Specialist at Barnsley Hospital, Victoria Faxon-Wastnage, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be in the final. Although we don’t do this job for praise it is lovely to be recognised for the work we do for our patients and their families.
“We are really looking forward to the award ceremony and to meeting all the other fantastic finalists and hear about the work others are doing around the country.”
The awards are held to recognise the excellent work been done across England and Wales for patients with dementia and their families and carers.
They will take place on Wednesday, September 16 in London.
