A MAN and woman have sadly died in a house fire in Elsecar yesterday evening.
Firefighters from Tankersley and Dearne rushed to Cherry Tree Street at around 6.50pm and rescued the pair from the blaze.
Unfortunately they both died.
A fire service spokesperson said: "Despite the considerable efforts of firefighters and ambulance crews at the scene, both sadly passed away.
"A multi-agency investigation into the cause of the fire has now begun."
