BARNSLEY schools won four medals at the 2015 South Yorkshire Sainsbury’s School Games recently.

More than 1,000 primary and secondary school children from Barnsley, Rotherham, Sheffield and Doncaster took part in the fourth annual games at Clifton Park.

Teams and individuals competed for gold, silver and bronze medals in the day long, multi sport championship.

Olympic long jumper Chris Tomlinson and Rotherham’s European and Commonwealth swimming medallist Joe Roebuck officially opened the Games.

Year 5 and 6 pupils from Barugh Green Primary School came second place in athletics along with High View Primary School Year 3 and 4's who also came second in cricket. 

Horizon Community College under 15 girls came third in tennis and Year 3 to 6 students from West Meadows Primary came third in adventure challenge.
