COUNCIL staff have took part in a blindfolded walk around Barnsley to highlight the challenges that blind and visually impaired people face.

Staff who did the walk are working on the town centre development and are part of the council’s Better Barnsley team.

The walk took place ahead of a Street Accessibility Fortnight of Action which is run by the Royal National Institute of Blind People.

Coun Roy Miller said: “The council recognises that all individuals have fundamental human rights and welcomes the diversity of the community living, working and learning in the borough."
