POLICE are appealing for information after a man had his wallet pinched while he was on a train from Barnsley to Sheffield.

British Transport Police want to speak to the man on CCTV about the theft which took place at 3pm on Wednesday, May 20.

Investigating officer PC Mark Mason said: “As the train arrived into Sheffield from Barnsley, the victim left his seat and walked to the front of the train inadvertently leaving his wallet, containing £15, an Oyster card, and his rail ticket, on the seat.

“A man then walked past the seat, stopped, returned to it and placed something in his bag.

"Once the victim realised he had left his wallet behind he returned to his seat to find it had gone.”
