VISITORS to Experience Barnsley are being invited to take a look at a unique exhibition from Monday, July 6 until Sunday, September 27.
'Service please!' explores the history of the Barnsley British Co-operative society and its importance to the town.
Visitors to the free Heritage Lottery Funded exhibition will be transported back to a time when the co-operative store was a familiar sight.
They will discover more about its history - everything from the opening of the first Barnsley store in 1862 to original pictures and objects that have been donated by local residents.
People will have the opportunity to listen to the fond memories of those who spent time working in or visiting the shops, places which were often at the heart of local communities.
