TWO young girls from Barnsley took part in a sponsored walk in memory of a family friend who tragically passed away at the age of two.

Shannon Lambert, 10, and Morgan Jones, 11, completed the 10 mile walk from Barnsley College to Cannon Hall Farm then back through Baurgh Green finishing at the Chestnut Tree on Saturday, June 21.

The youngsters raised just over £800 for the charity CLIMB, who work on behalf of families affected by metabolic disease.

The walk was in memory of family friend Jack Riley Linford. Jack had a condition called VLCAD which caused complications when trying to fight off a stomach bug. He sadly passed away last year.

Both girls were presented with a medal and certificate from the Linford family to thank them for their fundraising efforts.
