ELDERLY people with early morning hospital appointments will be able to travel on Stagecoach Yorkshire buses for free in Barnsley.
From June 15 elderly pass holders can catch a Stagecoach Yorkshire bus for free to hospital appointments requiring travel before 9.30am.
All they need to do is show the driver their official hospital appointment letter and their concessionary pass on buses that serve Barnsley Interchange.
The leading bus operator is currently trialling the scheme, introduced following discussions with the Barnsley Retirees Action Group.
A follow-up meeting between Stagecoach Yorkshire and Barnsley Retirees Action Group has been arranged for later in the summer.
