CALLOUS thieves pretending to be construction workers are conning their way into pensioners homes to steal from them.
Police say elderly residents have been targeted -. over the last week, two men have attended four properties, two in Worsbrough and two close to the town centre, using a variety of guises to trick their way into people’s homes.
They have either claimed to be from a reputable roofing construction company, that they are conducting guttering work or that they are selling garden furniture.
Once they are allowed into the property, one of the men will distract the resident while the other searches the house for any valuable items or cash to steal.
DS Pete Swift said: “These men are preying on the trusting nature of elderly residents and taking advantage of their vulnerability.“
