A MAN has unearthed three historic silver coins using his 22-year-old metal detector on farmland at Worsborough.

Neil Watson, 47, began searching for buried treasure in the dirt when he was a child and has found plenty of bits and pieces over the years.

But recently he unearthed his greatest find to date - an Emperor Nerva coin believed to date from 98AD and two Hadrian coins, believed to be from about 130AD.

They are thought to be worth hundreds of pounds and will be displayed in the Experience Barnsley Musuem.
