BARNSLEY town centre has been included in a list of the top 50 crime hotspots in the UK.
The S70 1WA postcode area - which incorporates the patch between Barnsley Market and Wellington Street - saw 37 crimes committed in April, according to statistics obtained by the Daily Mirror from the Home Office.
The findings place the area at 28 on the list of 50 problem postcodes with eight other areas.
Police assign crimes to the nearest location possible for the purposes of crime statistics.
This can mean that some crimes from small side streets are assigned to nearby, larger streets.
