A FRESH appeal has been launched to find a hit and run driver in Thurnscoe who left a teenage boy with life changing injuries.
Blake Bailey, 16, and his girlfriend Jess Green, 15, were walking home after an evening with friends at around 10pm on September 17.
The couple were taking a shortcut through Barrowfield Road, which goes through an industrial estate, when a small black/dark coloured car possibly with tinted windows mounted the pavement heading straight for the couple.
When they saw the car they began to run and Blake heroically pushed Jess out of the way. The car hit Blake and he suffered life threatening injuries. The car stopped, turned on its lights and drove away.
Blake’s leg and shoulder were broken and his pelvis was fractured. He had surgery on his head injuries and was in hospital for eight days. The incident had a life changing effect on him both mentally and physically.
