LUNCH clubs across Barnsley are appealing for volunteers to keep them running.
The lunch clubs in Cudworth, Monk Bretton, Great Houghton and Royston run sessions for elderly and vulnerable people, reducing social isolation, helping members to get out of the house, meet others and share a meal.
They rely on volunteers to keep them running and have recently seen an increase in members, which means they now need more people to help out.
Typically, lunch club volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve meals, chat with members and help organise social activities.
The volunteering opportunity is part of Barnsley’s volunteering month led by Love Where You Live and Voluntary Action Barnsley.
Volunteers must be available for two hours to help out at monthly and/or weekly sessions. Pocket expenses can be reimbursed. For more details contact Gail Naylor on 07940 424657.
