BARNSLEY central is the most rat infested area, figures have revealed.
The council responded to 1338 rat incidents in the last year. Barnsley Central which is classed as Inner Barnsley, Central Area, Eastern Area, Southern Area and Western Area, accounted for 880 of them.
In the last year, there was ten incidents in Goldthorpe, nine in Cudowrth North, eight in Hoyland, Hoyland Common, Blacker Hill and Platts Common and seven in Grimethorpe.
In Kendray, Stairfoot and Ardsley there was five rat incidents and four in Thurnscoe. All remaining areas accounted for less than three responses to rat incidents.
Coun Roy Miller said: “As is the case for most areas, the town centre attracts the highest number of responses to incidents relating to rats.
"The council demonstrate a positive response rate to any reported issues and deal with reported incidents quickly and efficiently. Our experienced team is available to advise and deal directly with any pest control issues.”
