YOUNG football players have been left devastated after their goalposts were stolen.

Houghton Main Football Club had two sets of Samba goalposts stolen on Friday (May 29) which were used to train the under eight's team.

General Manager Kris Jowett said: "As a club we work hard to put something back into our community. The fact that these posts have been stolen by somebody within the community is annoying.

"We are run entirely by volunteers so to see our hard work disappear in this way is very frustrating."

Anybody with information about the theft is asked to contact the club via email or call police on 101 quoting crime reference B/51182/2015.
