BUILDING work on Cudworth's Aldi store will start in the coming weeks.

It is believed that the new store on Barnsley Road will create up to 30 full and part-time jobs.

Aldi have said the store will not compete with existing businesses because it won't have a bakery, fishmonger or cafe and will not sell newspapers, cigarettes and lottery tickets.

The store's car park will be free of charge and available to anyone wishing to make linked shopping trips to local shops.

It is being being built on a site which has been vacant for more than two decades following the demolition of the former council offices.
