Community clean-up in Platts Common

A COMMUNITY clean-up in Platts Common on Tuesday (June 2) will mark the start of volunteering month.

People across Barnsley are being encouraged to join in with a range of volunteering opportunities such as event stewarding, planting and litter picking.

Barnsley's volunteering month led by the Love Where You Live campaign and Voluntary Action Barnsley aims to celebrate the contribution that volunteers make and encourage more people to get involved.

Councillior Jenny Platts said: "You don’t have to commit to hours of time every week – any bit of time you can spare will help.”

Anyone wanting to take part in the community clean-up in Platts Common should meet at Sunrise Manor Community Centre at 10am. Please contact Dawn Grayton on 01226 355865 for more information.
