A DEMOLITION plan has been submitted that outlines the major town centre buildings that will be demolished by December.
Contractor Hague Plant says it plans to start at the end of may demolishing Zero Ice (former Carpetworld building).
Demolition will then move on in phases to the multi-storey access ramp (Jumble Lane side only); Kendray Street bridge; market parade footbridge; Central Office; multi-story access ramp (Lambra Road entrance); multi-storey car park; markets offices; TEC building and shop units.
Jeremy Sykes, service director said: “This is an exciting step in creating a Better Barnsley – a redeveloped and improved town centre which residents will enjoy, businesses will want to invest in and that people will want to visit.”
