A PETITION has been launched to save a children's centre in Worsbrough Common.

Rising Stars run groups for families with children under five and have a team of support workers.

In the petition, addressed to Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, it says: "Without these groups parents would not receive support in this area. It makes no sense for this centre to close."

So far nearly 500 people have signed the petition to save the children's centre which is under threat of closure due to budget cuts.

It comes after the council announced plans for a proposed new model for family centres and launched a consultation to find out what people thought to the current children's centres.

The petition can be found here.
