Here's a first look of what Barnsley will look like by 2018.
The ambitious plans for the town centre have been unveiled which include an area for retail, leisure and market space, including areas for food and drink, a cinema and an additional shopping area.
There are proposals for a new library, landscaped public open space, car parking on the former CEAG site and a pedestrian footbridge across the railway.
The application will go before the council’s planning board by the end of June.
