A HEAD teacher has been appointed to take on the new Netherwood ALC when it opens in September.

The new school - which will see Darfield Foulstone and Wombwell High School closed - will be under the guidance of Toby Eastaugh, from Spen Valley Sports College in Kirklees. Bob Bloomer, chair of Netherwood’s temporary governing body, said: “This is an exciting time for Netherwood as the construction phase draws to a close.

"The Advanced Learning Centre is part of the borough-wide provision of brand new modern facilities for learning and is designed to sit comfortably within the country park. It will provide an excellent environment for learning and is intended to be a resource that the community will feel proud to be associated with.”
