POLICE have launched a crackdown on nuisance biking on the Trans Pennine Trail.

Foot and cycle patrols have been increased and - in the last week - two teenagers have been apprehended and their bikes seized.

Police Community Support Officer Stuart Kiley said: “It is a shame that a minority are engaging in antisocial behaviour and spoiling the trail for others.

“We won’t tolerate this crime and we will be taking action against those we find riding bikes in a manner that causes nuisance to walkers and the local community.”

Anyone who wishes to report nuisance bikes or antisocial behaviour should call 101.
