PAPER timetables will still be available to public transport users after public demand forced a U-turn.

We Are Barnsley reported in January that South Yorkshire transport hubs were to have reduced services, but now operators will produce their own paper-based information from April 1.

South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) announced a ten per cent budget reduction at the turn of the year, meaning that £7.6 million worth of services would be slashed.

David Young, deputy interim director general at SYPTE, said: "Public transport information is already available through many different means, but by listening to our customers we've been working hard to improve the information we provide."
