RESIDENTS on a 'death trap' Barnsley road are fighting for traffic calming measures to be installed.

Anne Davis, of Cross Lane, Royston, claims that speeding has long been a problem on the street, saying her wall has been knocked down three times by speeding cars.

And it was knocked down again just a few weeks ago - along with an iron gate in her front garden.

She said: "My premiums are going up every time because there's just so many accidents happening on here. It's unbelievable.

"People come flying around the corner at such a pace and they lose control, and that's when they come flying into one of our front gardens.

"So many of us have experienced damage to our property."

Anne started collecting signatures for a petition this week to get a chicane on Cross Lane, so cars are forced to slow down.
