A FOOD store, five shops and housing will be built on a former school site.
A 166-space car park and up to 35 new houses will occupy the former Foulstone site, on Nanny Marr Road, Darfield.
The demolition of the youth club off Barnsley Road, the only building left standing on the site, is included in the plans.
Darfield ward Coun Brian Key said: "It's vitally important for the centre of that village. We're really pleased and delighted, we welcome it. It's what we want.
"It will be a boost in the area. At the moment the school site does look an eyesore, it's a big hole in the centre of the village, so it will fill that.
"There have only been two objections and one of them was because the site is used by a few ponies. The only concern is about those ponies and where they will go."
