THE Reds are set to appoint Oldham manager Lee Johnson as their new boss, according to reports.

It's understood that the two clubs are close to agreeing a compensation deal for the 33-year-old, who watched Barnsley beat Scunthorpe 1-0 on Tuesday evening.

The Reds - whose season has once again been given a lift after back-to-back wins - now sit just four points off the play-off places.

Tuesday night's win ended a run of seven straight away league defeats thanks to Josh Scowen's goal.

They have been without a manager since ending Danny Wilson's second stint at the club on February 12.
