Officers investigating a collision last week are appealing for a man they believe may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

At around 2.20pm on February 6, it is reported that a green Land Rover Defender was travelling along Coaley Lane towards Wentworth.

Close to the junction with Smithey Bridge Lane, the Land Rover was in collision with a 56-year-old man.

The man was taken to hospital where he remains. His condition is described as serious but stable.

Police are now keen to trace a man with grey hair, believed to be in his 60s, driving a small blue hatchback, who they believe may have been travelling on the road both prior to and after the collision and may have witnessed the incident.

This man and anyone else who may hold information about the collision is asked to call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 516 of February 6.
