LANES on a busy Barnsley roundabout have been narrowed as major roadworks get underway.

The junction 37 roundabout at Dodworth now has a modified layout to allow vehicles to use two narrowed outer lanes while highways operatives work safely inside a cordoned zone around the hub of the roundabout.

The narrow lanes will remain in operation until completion of the J37 improvement scheme, with the work scheduled for completion in May.

Contractors from ESH Construction, working on behalf of Barnsley Council, are installing traffic signals on the approach roads to the roundabout to improve capacity.
