THE Reds beat play-off hopefuls Oldham to boost their own chances of reaching the top six last night.
An early goal from Kane Hemmings in the 12th minute was enough to move Danny Wilson's side to within four points of a play-off spot to continue the topsy-turvy theme of the League One season.
Barnsley, who sat just two points above the relegation zone a week ago, made it back-to-back wins when Milan Lalkovic's cross was volleyed home by the summer signing, who bagged his fourth of the season.
They're now in 13th place after a run of four consecutive home wins, while Oldham remain two points outside the hallowed top six in 10th.
"We deserved the win," Wilson said. "We took a great chance and defended fantastically after that. Although they had possession in key areas, we've frustrated them."
Next up for the Reds is a tough trip to Swindon on Saturday.
