MORE Barnsley litterers have been named, shamed and ordered to pay £340 by the council having failed to pay their initial fine.
Eight people were all fund guilty in their absence at Barnsley Magistrates' Court on January 29 having not paid their fines.
The notices were issued to them by a council enforcement officer and 3GS, the private company brought in by Barnsley Council to enforce against those who choose to drop litter in the town centre.
The fixed penalties are offered instead of prosecution and by law people have 14 days in which to pay them. If they don’t pay in full then Barnsley Council’s policy is to prosecute.
The following all dropped cigarette ends:
Catherine Cook, 41, of Fountain Court, Athersley North.
Alana Cullen, 60, of Marsh Street, Wombwell.
Kirsty Jagger, 29, of Darfield Road, Cudworth.
Claire Walshaw, 30, of Rebecca Row, Barnsley.
Krzysztof Pukorski, 37, of St Andrew's Square, Bolton on Dearne.
Emma Gascoigne, 24, of Wellington Crescent, Barnsley.
Wendy Hoyland, 45, of West Avenue, Bolton on Dearne.
Colin Millett, 32, of York Street, Cudworth.
Tracy Johnson, 46, of Wingfield Road, Barnsley.
Coun Roy Miller, cabinet spokesperson for place, said: "I cannot understand why people continue to drop litter despite the number of fines issued and the publicity around them.
"We will prosecute anyone who does not pay their fine in full. Avoiding a costly fine is simple - find a bin or take your litter home with you."
