PROPOSED parking restrictions on Racecommon Road could soon come into force.
But the road's business owners have condemned the plan, saying it will be detrimental and dangerous.
However members of the Let's Make Racecommon Road Safe group welcomed the move, claiming it would make the notorious road safer.
Coun Roy Miller said safety concerns have been expressed by councillors and the public following a road traffic collision involving a child pedestrian in December 2013, as well as concerns about previous accidents.
He added: "As a result it's proposed to implement sections of no waiting at any time restrictions on the length of Racecommon Road between Town End roundabout and Longcar Lane.
"This includes junction protection on side roads to improve visibility when travelling along Racecommon Road and when emerging from side roads.
"The proposals are fully supported by the emergency services, ward members and representatives of the Let's Make Racecommon Road Safe action group."
