PROPOSALS to convert a working men's club into a bar and restaurant have been submitted to the council.

An application, by Peter Doyle, said Kingstone United, on Raley Street, was largely unused and only opened occasionally.

If the plans are approved, Mr Doyle hopes to use the concert room as the main dining area and the snooker rooms as a function room or separate dining area for small parties.

His application states: "If permitted, this proposal will enable a significant building to be brought back into appropriate, beneficial and productive use."

Minor internal alterations would be made to provide a kitchen and the function room and it's anticipated a hot food takeaway would be included.

There is limited car parking but Mr Doyle intends to offer a 'taxi' service, where people will be collected from their homes and returned at the end of the evening.
