SNOW is on its way to Barnsley, the Met Office has warned.

A warning is in place from now (4pm) until 12pm on Wednesday, with forecasters predicting that persistent snow will fall throughout the night and all morning.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Accumulations of 3-8cm are likely in places, perhaps 10-15cm very locally on high ground.

"The snow should ease gradually through Wednesday morning, but the public should be aware of the risk of disruption to transport."
