ONE of the town's most well-used swimming pools will close to undergo repairs.
Both pools at Hoyland Leisure Centre will close from January 28 while Barnsley Council carries out essential maintenance work.
The large pool will be drained, repairs will be made to the tiling and pool structure while all poolside windows will be replaced.
During the closure operators Barnsley Premier Leisure will be updating their website and social media forums so that users can see how the refurbishment is developing.
A statement read: "BPL regrets that during the closure all public swim sessions will be cancelled. We would like to encourage you to visit our other nearby pools as an alternative.
"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience that this displacement may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.
"Please be assured that we are committed to keeping any disruptions of this nature to a minimum and also to keeping customers fully informed of any developments."
The facility will reopen to the public on March 2.
