A POPULAR Barnsley town centre pub is set to be demolished.
The concrete block on Kendray Street - home to The Groggers' Rest, Charlesworth's Butchers and takeway Munjacks - is to be reduced to rubble.
Compulsory purchase orders are being obtained by Barnsley Council to speed up work on the £50 million redevelopment of the town centre.
Cabinet members are expected to approve the CPOs on ground floor retail units underneath the TEC building on Wednesday.
Demolition works should begin in April.
