FURTHER weather warnings have been issued for this week after winds of up to 90mph battered South Yorkshire at the weekend.
Police warned motorists to avoid fallen trees in Barnsley on Saturday, while residents across the area reported wind damage to gardens and difficult driving conditions on major roads.
A deepening area of low pressure is expected to track across the UK during Wednesday and into Thursday. To the south of this system, severe gales are expected to develop.
Wind gusts of 50-60mph are likely quite widely through the warning area, while gusts of 75mph are likely over exposed hills.
A Met Office spokesperson said: "The public should be aware of the risk of localised disruption to transport and possibly power supplies."
