HOMELESS people will benefit from blankets made from squares crafted by dementia sufferers.

Knit2gether, a monthly event for people with the illness and their carers, takes place at Experience Barnsley.

Joining the group were fashion students from Barnsley College who have also been involved in the project, crocheting the knitted pieces together.

The sessions encourage those attending to chat, reminisce and interact with others in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Adele Lacy, dementia support worker at the Alzheimer’s Society, said: "Knit2gether gives people with dementia and their carers the opportunity to participate in meaningful activities, reducing isolation and promoting general health and wellbeing."

The blankets were donated to homeless charity Barnsley Churches Drop-In Project this week, in time for the winter months.
