HUNDREDS of people have rallied together to give a 25-year-old woman with terminal cervical cancer the wedding of her dreams.

Jamie Lea Jepson, of Birkwood Avenue, Cudworth, was diagnosed with the disease in May and underwent a hysterectomy to get rid of the tumour, which was initially thought to have been successful.

But in October she was given the devastating news the cancer had returned in her pelvis and doctors could do no more.

Around 300 friends and family gathered at a fundraising event at a pub in Elsecar to raise £3,500 after Jamie and fiancé Gareth Harrison made the decision to get married next month.

Jamie's mum Maxine, 47, said: "Jamie had a great time at the event. She was in a wheelchair and I think she burnt herself out but she loved seeing all her friends and family in one place.

"I think at times it was a bit much but she got to see people she had not seen for a long time."
