SENTIMENTAL family war medals and jewellery have been stolen from the home of a 68-year-old woman.
Patricia Naylor, from Staincross, returned home to find a window had been smashed.
Items including her grandfather Arthur Naylor's First World War service medals and her uncle Ben Naylor's RAF wings badge had been taken.
The thief also took a gold chain which had belonged to Patricia's mother Mary, who died shortly after giving birth to her.
Patricia said: "I have always lived in this house. I lived with my grandmother who brought me up and inherited these medals.
"They have been in the family for years and I would look at them and put them back - all my life they have been in that same box.
"The chain belonged to my mother and in all the photos I have got of her she is wearing it. Whenever I wore it i felt some connection with her."
Police officers have made enquiries but the medals have not been recovered.
