A ZEBRA crossing outside a new supermarket is "an accident waiting to happen", according to a councillor.

Coun Robin Franklin said drivers were failing to stop at the Tesco crossing on Wombwell Road, Hoyland.

He has put in a formal request to the Hoyland Safer Neighbourhood Team asking for the crossing to be monitored.

He said: "I have had numerous complaints - the drivers are breaking every rule in the book.

"One lady with a pram got halfway across but then a car coming the other way nearly knocked her down."

A Tesco spokesman said concerns about the crossing outside its store was not something they would comment on.
