THE 240-acre country park at Worsbrough has been accredited by Natural England in a move that the council hopes will attract more visitors. Worsbrough’s assistant manager, Richard Moss, said the award demonstrated the country park had good and clear signage, adequate toilet facilities, was kept clean and tidy and that the community was involved through a volunteering group. He added: “There is a structured land management plan in place, which is updated regularly to ensure the park, its habitats and wildlife receive the attention they need for their sustainability. Our valued customers often pass comment on the rich diversity of the country park habitats.” Jeff Lunn, Natural England’s area manager, added: “The team there are working tirelessly to look after this beautiful area in Barnsley and are creating a wide range of opportunities for recreation, health and education which dovetail with the wildlife management delivered through the local nature reserve.”
