A WOMAN has been arrested for drink driving as South Yorkshire Police continue their crackdown in the run-up to Christmas.
The 44-year-old was arrested on Tuesday morning - leading police to warn that alcohol can still be in your system hours after your last drink.
Over 1,000 drivers were convicted of the offence in South Yorkshire last year and extra patrols are on the roads this month to catch people in the act.
Ken Wheat, from the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership, said: "It's not possible to say how much alcohol you can drink and stay below the limit.
"It's better not to drink at all as you could still be over the limit on the morning after."
Barnsley residents have been asked to help the police in their quest to keep drink drivers off the roads this Christmas. Offences can be reported on 101 or by calling Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
