A MAN hit a woman with a piece of plywood - after she complained about the standard of his mother's bingo calling.
Barnsley Magistrates' Court was told Leon Andrews, 24, struck Margaret Cooper on the arm which she raised to protect herself.
Jayne Ormrod, prosecuting, said Mrs Cooper was attacked by the 2ft by 1ft piece of wood after she approached the stage at a club where Andrews' mother was calling bingo numbers.
Mrs Cooper later pleaded with magistrates to deal with Andrews severely because he had attacked someone twice his age.
Father-of-two Andrews - who had been badly assaulted in 2008 and 2011 - was taken to the club by his mother to get him out of the house.
Andrews, of Albert Street, Cudworth, admitted assault and was ordered to pay Mrs Cooper £50 compensation.
He was also ordered to attend 27 sessions of a Probation Service programme, to pay a £60 victim surcharge and costs of £35.
