JACK Walton from The X Factor returned to his dad's local to switch on the Christmas lights.

The 18-year-old made it through to the live finals of the singing competition before being eliminated in week four.

But he returned to the Elephant and Castle pub in Hemingfield, where he had previously performed at open mic nights.

Landlady Trish Watson said: "Jack advertised on Twitter that he was turning the Ridings' lights on in Wakefield, so I inboxed him saying we were putting the tree up and asked if he would like to do it.

"There was a massive queue of people waiting outside. We set an amp up outside with a brolley and Jack performed.

"Then we went inside and he was signing stuff for two-and-a-half hours."
