A BARNSLEY couple had to be rescued from their smoke-filled home after they were trapped inside.

Firefighters were called to New Street, Darfield, at 2.30am on Sunday.

Crews had to break down their door to enter, after smoke from a fire outside filled the home.

An investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway. They were not seriously injured.
