A VILLAGE which has never had Christmas lights before will be lit up later on today thanks to a generous businessman.
Eric Riby has donated over £5,000 worth of illuminations for Barugh Green and is set to switch them on at 4pm.
Father Christmas is set to flick the switch on the lights at Barugh Green Primary School, lighting up a 16ft Christmas tree - the first tree in the school's history - as well as 17 street lamp posts.
A special Christmas choir will also be in attendance.
Eddie said: "I'm absolutely thrilled to be able to be in a position where I can give back to my local community and bring some Christmas joy to the residents of Barugh Green.
"It's something I have wanted to do for a long time and I can't wait to see everyone's faces. Christmas is all about creating magic and I can only hope it will be a magical moment for the residents of Barugh Green."
