A BARNSLEY mum-of-four is embarking on a year-long fundraising cause to raise money for a young people's cancer charity.

Selena Sanders started her quest on October 1 and plans to run a collective total of 300 miles over the next year.

The 32-year-old, who has battled illness all her life, suffers from chronic fatigue syndrome (ME), hypermobility and had major heart surgery as a four-year-old.

Two months after giving birth to her fourth child in March, Selena set about changing her lifestyle and joined Slimming World.

She's now on the way to raising funds for Clic Sargent, a charity which helps young people with cancer.

She said: "I started going to a bootcamp and started out with the basics, so I was running and walking for one-minute-long sessions. They were small steps but I'm now running anything from three to nine miles.

"For anyone who thinks they can't run because they're ill, I'm living proof that if you never try you will never know."
