WAR medals have been stolen by callous thieves in Barnsley.
Between 2pm and 4.15pm on October 21, police received reports of a burglary at a property in Wakefield Road, Athersley. Jewellery and a medal from World War One were reportedly taken during the incident.
Between 4.10pm and 6.30pm on November 1, it's reported that jewellery and a collection of medals from both world wars were taken from a property in Blacker Road, Mapplewell, in another reported burglary.
Detective Sergeant Paul Brook said: "The items that have been taken are of significant sentimental value to the victims and therefore irreplaceable.
"This week in particular as we commemorate the centenary of the First World War, we're asking anyone who may have been offered the medals to come forward and help us locate these items."
One of the medals is described as being gold with a blue ribbon, from the First World War.
Another medal is described as having Royal Air Force wings on a blue, grey and white ribbon, issued in the Second World War.
The other First World War medals are believed to be engraved with the name Arthur Naylor.
